How bout that title? I know. I try.
Here's my menu for tomorrow and some recipes that might help get you started. I plan to throw in a little meditation just to get myself in the groove (MEDITATION, I know - total geeksville). Consider trying it. You might be surprised.
breakfast: Green shake
snack: Raw crackers smothered in cilantro parsley dipping sauce (recipe below) and topped with tomato and cucumber slices
lunch: Huge green salad with Omar's dressing.
mid-afternoon snack: Another glass of green shake & a handful of raw almonds
dinner: Raw tacos (I'll give you the recipe and then you'll want to make out with me - for real). They are SO incredible.
late snack (because I like foooooood): Blackberry-orange smoothie (recipe below)
Cilantro Parsley Dipping Sauce
1 1/2 cup cilantro
1/2 cup parsley
juice and zest of 2 limes
4 Tbs. cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil
pinch of sea salt
2-3 cloves garlic
1 jalapeno pepper, minced
1 tsp. raw honey
Wash and dry herbs well. Roughly chop herbs, garlic, and jalapeno, then put them in a blender with remaining ingredients. Pour into a serving dish and enjoy.
Asparagus Cream Soup (tried this today and loved it)
6-10 tender asparagus spears
1/4 cup raw cashews
juice of 1/2 lemon
sea salt to taste
pepper to taste
Trim asparagus stems. Cut off tender tips and squeeze lemon juice all over them. Cut remaining spears and put into blender with cashews. Cover with water and blend until smooth. Taste and add sea salt and pepper if desired. Cut tips into small pieces and stir into soup with remaining lemon juice.

2 handfuls of baby spinach
5 cups green lettuce, torn or chopped
1/2 Tbs. Olive oil
1/2 an avocado, diced

salt to taste
Combine lettuce and spinach in a salad bowl. Drizzle with oil, season with salt, toss to mix. Sprinkle with pomegranate seeds, pine nuts, avocado and lemon juice.

Oh my gosh, I am seriously drooling!! Thank you thank you thank you! :)
We are going to be doing the cleanse in our home and I'm so excited! About 6 months ago we decided to make some changes and start eating vegan. That went very well. However, it has all gone to crap over the holidays so I'm ready to get back on track.
I wanted to ask you guys something though. My husband is allergic to wheat, eggs, nuts and melons. The wheat and nut allergies has really made eating vegan a little difficult. I can also see that it will make things harder with a raw diet as well.
Do you guys have any suggestions about what could be substituted for nuts in dips or dressings or "cheese", etc. I want to remain 100% healthy and raw with our diet. I get nervous buying store bought bottled dressings and dips but if you know if any that are healthy I would be happy to hear.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for all your guidiance! Your blog is such an inspiration to our family. You have really changed our health for the better.
ALso, what do you use the raw pine nut cheese for?
A - It's so awesome to hear about your family's decision to get healthy. We love stories like that. And don't worry about the holidays. Everyone does it.
As far as a substitution for nuts, that's a hard one. Jenny will probably have some good solutions for you though. Hold tight and I'll have her give you her suggestions. She's kind of brilliant like that.
I use pine nut cheese on raw crackers and as a dip for veggies. It could go so many ways though. It's SO good. I made some today and added a little Trocomare and a little extra garlic. It was great!
A - I am allergic to gluten, which includes wheat. If you are looking for cooked vegan foods that don't include wheat, you may want to follow blogs that specialize in gluten-free cooking/baking (in addition to following ours!) A couple of blogs that I've found helpful are www.lexieskitchen.com, www.nourishingmeals.com,www.delectablyfree.com, www.elanaspantry.com, www.thespunkycoconut.com. These blogs are not exclusively vegan, but often post recipes that are. Many use almond flour as a base for recipes, but there are recipes that don't contain nuts as well. You can substitute 1 tbs. ground chia seed mixed with 3 tbs. water or other liquid per egg in any recipe.
What kind of nut is he allergic to? For example, cashews are actually thick-shelled seeds (neither nuts nor legumes). Is he allergic to peanuts (a legume), tree nuts, coconuts?? The nuts may pose more of a problem to raw eating, but won't deter veganism. I would substitute seeds such as sunflower or hemp seeds. Both make delicious dips/dressings. You can look to our blog for inspiration or google. Annie recently posted a great cilantro dip with no nuts in it.
Thanks for your questions! So glad you're joining the detox!
My husband is allergic to peanuts and every nut in existence that we know of. I think he needs to get another allergy test though. He was tested as a child and many times since but never since we have been married and I'd love to know exactly what I'm up against. As far as he knows all nuts including cashews should be avoided. However coconut, pine nuts and seeds are all ok. I'm wondering if I could sub almonds for pine nuts or sunflower seeds like in Omar's dressing. Or would that ruin it?
His wheat allergy is severe. He can't even be in the basement when flour is being used upstairs. It will irritate his eyes and throat every time. So all gluten/wheat/ flour is off limits. Thanks for the blogs. I will def check them out right now.
And thanks for your responses. It's so helpful to bounce ideas off of people who know the whole allergy ordeal first hand.
thank you SO much for all the recipes. i love this blog. i look back here all the time for new ideas when we get stuck in a boring eating rut.
